KPMG and Anthropic announced a global alliance on Monday that gives every one of the firm's 276,000 employees access to Claude, with the model embedded directly into the consultancy's internal software platform. The deal makes KPMG one of the largest professional-services firms to deploy a single frontier model at scale.
According to Anthropic's announcement, Claude will be integrated into Digital Gateway, the cloud-based platform KPMG staff and clients already use for tax, audit and advisory work. The first new tools to ship through the Gateway will support tax and legal clients, with internal-facing applications for finance, risk and cybersecurity to follow.
How the deal works
Digital Gateway runs on Microsoft Azure, so the integration is not a wholesale platform replacement. Instead, Claude becomes a reasoning layer inside tools KPMG was already shipping. KPMG's press release said the firm's internal AI and Data Labs in the US have been using Claude for around two years, and that the global rollout extends that work to every member firm.
The arrangement also names KPMG as a preferred partner to Anthropic for private equity engagements. Winbuzzer reports that the two firms will jointly build Claude-powered products for PE portfolio companies, an area where standardised tooling can be reused across dozens of acquired businesses at once.
What this signals
The KPMG deal is notable less as a Claude story than as a procurement story. Big professional-services firms have spent the past two years experimenting with multiple models in parallel, often to hedge against any one supplier. A single-vendor alliance of this size suggests the experimentation phase is closing for at least one class of buyer.
Deloitte's 2026 State of AI in the Enterprise survey found 97 per cent of executives reported deploying AI agents in the past year, while only 23 per cent said they were seeing significant ROI from agentic AI. KPMG is betting that an end-to-end integration, rather than a patchwork of pilots, is the way to close that gap.
