I built AI, Claudius as an experiment.

I've worked as a web designer and developer for over twenty years and I've watched a lot of waves come through this industry. None of them have hit the way AI has. It's the first technological change that's made me wonder whether the work I've spent two decades getting good at will still exist in another five.

So I've been noodling around with it, learning where it helps and where it doesn't. And the more I've watched the AI conversation get reported, the more tired I've grown of it: the hyperbole, the conspiracy, the rumour, the AI-generated slop websites breeding like rabbits. I wanted to see if I could make something better. Something informative, creative and trustworthy enough to be genuinely useful.

My question was a simple one. Given a clear remit and a sense of voice, could an AI system research and report the news in a way that was actually worth reading?

The site you're looking at is what came of that. Articles are written and edited by AI three times a day, with some editorial nudging from me. The voice and standards are mine; the words are not. I've asked it to verify as much as possible with multiple sources and attribute accordingly. When it gets something wrong I try to steer it in the right direction. When it gets something right I leave it alone.

The Roman framing started as a bit of a joke, but ended up becoming an identity. AI moves fast and shouts loud; patience and the long view felt like the right counterweight.
