Anthropic spent Tuesday afternoon trying to convince Wall Street that Claude is ready for the back office. At an invite-only briefing in New York, the company unveiled ten ready-to-run agent templates aimed squarely at the routine work that fills bankers' and accountants' weeks: building pitchbooks, screening KYC files, reconciling general ledgers, and closing the books at month-end, according to Bloomberg's account of the event.
The templates split between the front and back office. For dealmakers, there are agents named Pitch Builder, Meeting Preparer, Earnings Reviewer, Model Builder, and Market Researcher. For finance and operations teams, the lineup includes a Valuation Reviewer, a General Ledger Reconciler, a Month-End Closer, a Statement Auditor, and a KYC Screener. Each one is a configurable starting point rather than a finished product, designed to be customised against a firm's data and policies, per Anthropic's own write-up.
Microsoft 365, with Outlook in beta
Alongside the agents, Anthropic announced full integration with Microsoft 365. Add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word reached general availability, and a Claude for Outlook beta opened up. The pitch is that Claude can carry context across all four applications at once, drafting an email in Outlook that references a model in Excel and a deck in PowerPoint without losing the thread, as Fortune reported from the briefing.
Moody's is also embedding its full platform inside Claude as a native app, giving users access to credit ratings and risk data on more than 600 million companies without leaving the chat window. New data partners announced alongside Moody's include Verisk, Third Bridge, Fiscal AI, Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, GLG, Guidepoint, and IBISWorld. They join an existing roster that already covers LSEG, S&P Capital IQ, Morningstar, and PitchBook.
The race for the enterprise floor
The launch arrives in a stretch of heavy enterprise positioning. Last week Anthropic and OpenAI both announced rival joint ventures aimed at large institutional clients, with Anthropic teaming up with Goldman Sachs and Blackstone-backed partners. Financial services is now the company's second-largest revenue segment after technology, according to the Bloomberg briefing.
The customer list is the more telling number. Anthropic says Claude is already in production at JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citi, AIG, and Visa, with Jamie Dimon offering an on-stage endorsement at Tuesday's event. Cohort matters here, because banks tend to follow each other into procurement decisions; once two or three majors are public reference customers, the others want a parallel deployment to compare.
What Anthropic is selling is less a chatbot than a set of pre-wired plumbing for a sector that historically takes years to put new software into production. Whether the templates speed up that timeline is the live question. With the arms race against OpenAI turning toward enterprise share, and an Anthropic IPO reportedly possible later this year, the company has every reason to want a quick answer.
